You can be sarcastic and you can insult me. I would rather not do this with you, however. I am deeply concerned about our democracy (as most of us are) and I feel—just as I wrote in the essay—becoming cynical and wanting to just “explode” everything is not going to help us.

What have the Democrats done? Well, right now they are trying to beat back voter suppression across 20 & more states. They are trying to block attempts by Republican legislators to rig future elections.

They are the only thing standing between us and neofascism, ATM. With global implications … My point here is: what is your plan? Do you not care if this country succumbs to the GOP?

This is not about winning a debate; this is about trying to think clearly about what we should be doing. The climate crisis is also upon us. The GOP does not even acknowledge this fundamental & massive crisis.

Certainly, there are far more Black people in Democratic leadership, & Biden’s White House, as well as women, transgendered and indigenous.

Not a ton, but far better than those who rely on a genocidal conspiracy theory (QAnon), white fright, Russian disinformation and a mountain of lies for power. Everything is always moving and changing. Saying “Democrats” as if they were something static is not even correct. There are more and more young progressives running for office and unless there is another plan to move this country, I say we need to support the Democrats at this crucial crucial time. Perhaps then we can put more pressure on everyone as we see our current system is actually suicidal.
