Who is being punished and how? … I am someone who believes it is very important to unearth the racism in our current society. Saying “white people” is shorthand for saying, historically, white people have been the ones who have done the most oppressing, and still do. Without being able to say “white people” there is simply no conversation. If you read some of the most important books on race today such as “White Rage,” “Caste” and “The Sum of Us,” you will find these brilliant journalists and historians (all black women in these cases) are advocating radical love and compassion and a reversal of the racism that has blighted our nation. I have never heard a black person say they want to kill or somehow punish white people. I have never heard ANY POC say that. It is amazing how frightened so many white people are of simply looking at history and acknowledging the real facts of our country’s foundations and continuing racism. … And where are the lynchings and beatings of white people? Where is the systemic oppression happening of white people? Your analysis lacks an education actually in the widely available critiques of our society by POC and I suggest you do more reading and self-education. This comment is rather ignorant.
