This is not what I have heard about Australia at all. Their gun control laws seemed to make a big difference. We do not need automatic assault rifles in the hands of people who are struggling with inner demons. Full stop. The "death penalty' does nothing for those murdered and their families, loved ones and communities.

He's technically correct, but I think both sides mislead with the data.
Murders went up in the UK after the 1996 gun ban. Murders simply remained flat for years in Australia. I rounded up some of the data here:
