I don’t know what to say except that even though I can agree with you on several points, I still do not understand the plan. What is the plan? Allow the authoritarians to take over? Perhaps to set up a theocratic state? To further oppress & possibly kill women, force them into pregnancy? Roll back their rights? Oppress/jail dissidents and other out-of-favor groups?
Do you advocate for on the ground community organizing? Around what basic principles? I would support something like this but I am not clear that people have plans. I keep asking the same question: what is your plan? Do you want to set up an alternative government? Do you want to run for the hills?
As far as I am concerned many of the prejudices and oppression that we have lived through are not unique in human history and they are not unique to this country, necessarily. As I write in my own essay, we have seen & see terrible horrors all around the world. Corruption is not new. Oppression is not new. The systems in which they operate may differ. Sometimes the systems purport to be communism. Sometimes just straight out authoritarianism. Show me a system that is working to uplift all the people of a nation in this world. And if you have one, tell me how we get from here to there.
On the other hand, we have never seen this country operate with full enfranchisement. After so much hard work, we finally have a chance for full enfranchisement. Many people have worked very hard and lost lives to get to this point. What if we used our full voting rights? We are currently nowhere near that. And it seems to me the gentlest way forward with the least amount of suffering for all concerned.
