As a reply to my colleague, I wrote on FB that I was surprised by her response. The idea of personal guilt and anger had never occured to me. I suppose because my response has been, pretty immediately: “Well, what can I do?” … So many strong emotions though, around all of this. I have to say that I have been totally complicit in this fossil fuel based system, and still am, though trying to disengage. It is clear to me, however, that we need massive, government-initiated systems changes in order to truly make an impact of the kind needed now. … And so many industries have conspired to keep real change from happening. That is so sad, tragic and angering. It is almost beyond words … given the consequences of such.
