Actually, those things are relatively true. I did a lot of research into Trump’s “dog whistling” to racists, and in fact, the media did not cover this very much. There was also use of Nazi symbology in his 2020 campaign as well as very particular coded messages that speak only to white supremacists. I wrote a whole article on Medium about this, including my sources. See “Waking Up To Racism” on my account. … So I don’t know how you can say these things are not true. When Trump signed an order to protect federal statues it was clearly within the context of Confederate statues being taken down. So that statement is relatively true. I would agree however that “Clickbait” headlines and fomenting emotions like rage and fear are part of the large scale, mainstream media MO. But there’s plenty of good journalism out there — especially long-form journalism in magazines and so forth. People need to read more.
